All personal information handled by the system of the “World Woman in Science and Technology”(hereinafter “WWTS”) is collected, stored, and processed in accordance with all relevant laws. The WWST and its operators make every effort to protect the rights and interests of users and properly perform tasks through the WWST system. This Privacy Policy serves to inform WWST users of the purpose and method of use of user personal information, as well as of the measures taken by the WWST to protect users’ personal information.
This privacy policy shall enter into effect on March 2, 2021.
Purpose of Collection and Use of Personal Information
The WWST processes personal information for the following purposes. Personal information is not processed or used for any purpose other than those stated below. In the event that any changes are made to the stated purposes of use, the WWST will take all necessary measures, such as obtaining separate user consent, in accordance with Article 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act.

Registration and Management of the WWST Database

When a user registers with the WWST database, the user’s personal information is processed for the purposes of: user identification; confirmation of registration intent; analysis of database statistics; prevention of illegal use of services; delivery of notices; and securing of a seamless communication channel.

Users’ personal information is also processed for the provision of services, such as for: personnel searches; statistics; information on international events (delivery of invitations, etc.); information on international exchanges; joint international surveys; notices on website use; and information about website content.

The WWST collects the following items of personal information during the initial sign-up process for website membership registration, as well as for the provision and management of various services:

Personal Information Processing and Retention Period
When a user utilizes the services provided by the WWST, the WWST continuously retains the user’s personal information and utilizes it for the provision of services, etc. When a user directly asks for membership withdrawal or the deletion of his or her personal information, the user’s information is then additionally processed so that it cannot be viewed or used in the future.
Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
The personal information registered in the WWST database is processed only within the specified scope, purpose of collection, and retention period and is not used for purposes other than those stated and is not provided to third parties without the prior consent of the user (hereinafter referred to as “use for purposes other those stated, etc.”). However, personal information may be provided to a third party in cases specified under Article 17 (Provision of Personal Information) and Article 18 (Limitations to Out-of-Purpose Use and Provision of Personal Information) of the Personal Information Protection Act, such as cases in which the user has given their consent, or the provision of personal information is stipulated by special laws and provisions.
Viewing and Correction of Personal Information
Users may view or correct the information collected and stored during registration/modification processes completed by the WWST at any time, and may request the deletion of personal information. Any user who would like to view or correct their personal information may click on the “Register/Edit” button to directly view or correct the information, or may contact the Personal Information Manager by email. Changes to user information shall be applied immediately following the completion of the changing procedures.

Personal Information Procedure and Method of Destruction
In principle, the WWST destroys personal information immediately after the processing of the personal information for its stated purposes has been completed. However, the information cannot be immediately deleted if its preservation is required by other relevant laws. The procedures, deadlines, and method of destruction for personal information collected and stored through the WWSTare as follows:
The information entered by the user shall be destroyed in accordance with relevant laws and internal policies after the retention period has elapsed or the purposes of the information processed have been accomplished.
Personal information shall be destroyed within five (5) days of the end of the retention period, or within five (5) days of the date on which the personal information is deemed no longer necessary for processing for reasons such as: the personal information has already served its processing purposes; the related services have been discontinued; or the related business has been shut down, etc.
The WWST destroys personal information using the following methods:

Electronic files: permanently deleted in a way that cannot be restored

Records, prints, documents, or other media: shredded or incinerated
Personal Information Manager
The WWST appoints a Personal Information Manager as follows in order to protect users’ personal information and to handle related matters.

Users may report any and all personal information protection-related complaints related to the use of the WWST and its services to the Personal Information Manager. The manager will use the WWST to provide sufficient answers to user reports in a timely manner.
Changes to the Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy shall be applied from the date of enforcement, and any changes including additions, deletions, and/or corrections to this Privacy Policy, made in accordance with all relevant laws and policies, shall be made known to users through a notice posted on the WWST website (www.wwst.or.kr) at least seven (7) days prior to the enactment of the changes.
Limited Responsibility for the Protection of Personal Information
The WWST and its operators are not responsible for any infringement or leakage of personal information to a third party in any manner other than those listed in this Privacy Policy.
